Introduction and Overview

We provide comprehensive information about the data we process about you.

While privacy statements can often be technical and filled with legal jargon, our goal is to present this information as clearly and transparently as possible. We explain technical terms in a reader-friendly way, provide links to further information, and use graphics where applicable. This ensures you understand that we only process personal data on a lawful basis during our business activities. Unlike typical, dense legalese found online, our explanations aim to be concise and clear. We hope you find this information both interesting and informative, perhaps learning something new in the process.

If you have any questions, please contact the responsible office mentioned below or in our imprint, follow the provided links, or look at further information on third-party sites. Our contact details are also available in imprint.

Scope of application

This privacy statement applies to all personal data processed by our company and the companies we commission (processors). By personal data, we refer to information such as a person's name, email address, and postal address. Processing personal data allows us to offer and invoice our services and products, both online and offline. This privacy policy covers:

  • all online presences (websites, online shops) that we operate
  • social media sites and email communications
  • mobile apps for smartphones and other devices

In short: This privacy statement applies to all areas where personal data is processed within our company through the aforementioned channels. If we establish legal relationships with you outside these channels, we will inform you separately.

In this privacy statement, we provide transparent information on the legal principles and regulations, which allow us to process personal data.

We only process your data if at least one of the following conditions applies:

  • You have given us consent to process data for a specific purpose, such as storing data from a contact form.
  • We process your data to fulfill a contract or pre-contractual obligations, such as gathering personal information to complete a sales contract.
  • We process your data to comply with legal obligations, such as retaining invoices for accounting purposes.
  • We process personal data for legitimate interests that do not override your fundamental rights, such as ensuring our website operates securely and efficiently.

Other bases like performing tasks in the public interest, exercising official authority, or protecting vital interests are usually not relevant to us. If applicable, these bases will be indicated.

Storage period

Our policy is to store personal data only as long as necessary to provide our services and products. If you want us to delete any of the personal data you have provided us, please contact us. In some cases, legal obligations require us to retain data, such as for accounting purposes.

If you request data deletion or revoke your consent, we will delete your data promptly, provided there is no legal obligation to retain it.

We will inform you about specific data processing durations below, if available.

Data transfer to third countries

We only transfer or process data to countries outside the EU (third countries) with your consent, if legally required, or contractually necessary, and only to the extent generally permitted. Your consent is often the primary reason for processing data in third countries. Processing data in other countries, where many service providers are based, may result in unexpected data processing and storage practices.

We explicitly note that the European Court of Justice currently considers data transfers to the USA as lacking adequate protection. Data processed by US services (e.g., Google Analytics) may not be anonymized, and US government authorities could access individual data. Additionally, collected data may be linked to other services from the same provider, if you have a corresponding user account. Where possible, we use server locations within the EU.

Security of data processing

To protect personal data, we have implemented technical and organizational measures. Where possible, we encrypt or pseudonymize personal data to make it difficult for third parties to infer personal information from our data.

"data protection through technical design and through data protection-friendly default settings," meaning that both software (e.g., forms) and hardware (e.g., server room access) are designed with security in mind, and appropriate measures are taken. We will detail specific measures, if necessary, in the following sections.
